Current Projects

The Research Centre for Applied Alpine Ecology currently has a number of active projects that cover topics such as climate change, long-term vegetation dynamics, invasive species research, and wetland chemistry and hydrology.

Invasive Species Research

Invasions by exotic flora and fauna are currently one of the biggest threats to Australia’s alpine ecosystems. Changing land-use practices, increased fire activity and a warming climate are all contributing factors to the proliferation of weeds and exotic animals (such as deer) in alpine landscape. The Research Centre is currently undertaking projects to further understand the patterns, processes and impacts of these invasions.
